Making your experience better

MAXIMIZING YOUR YOGA EXPERIENCE

Give yourself plenty of time to get to class and acclimate. It’s best to arrive 5 minutes early — with an empty bladder & stomach. If possible, bathe prior to class. If you do arrive a few minutes late, take a breath, unravel your mat outside and enter as slowly and quietly as you can. Consider being prompt as a part of your yogabliss practice.

Be kind and loving to yourself. Accept where you are and know that each day on the mat is different. Rest if you want or need too. Let yourself surrender enough to have an experience. Remember: no matter where or when we begin yoga, it is a process, progress, success.

Focus on what the teacher is saying and doing. Take verbal or hands-on corrections in the spirit of friendly guidance.

Abandon the competitive mindset. Yoga is non-competitive. It is Not a "work out," it is a practice that makes the body stronger, more flexible and healthier. Its aim is to calm the mind, open the heart and accelerate our spiritual evolution. So don’t compare yourself to others. Listen to your body and do what you can without straining or injuring yourself.

Let the teacher know about injuries or conditions that might affect your practice. If you are injured or tired, try a modified version or skip the poses you can’t or shouldn’t do.

Never bring a cell phone into the studio. Put the events of the day aside and create a little yogabliss oasis for yourself.

Acquire and use your own yoga mat. We provide a $1 rental house mat as a convenience — but it is more hygienic to use your own, even though I wipe them down and spray them.
